SUMMARY:Biobanking in Microbiome Research
DESCRIPTION:Dear Ladies and Gentlemen\,\nDear colleagues\, \nBillions of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses colonise the body and influence human health. The so-called microbiome is not only found in the intestine\, microorganisms are also found in the mouth\, in the lungs or on the skin. Comparing the number of human body cells with the number of microbes\, the small organisms are clearly in the majority.\nIn recent years\, the microbiome has increasingly become the focus of research\, sometimes even referred to as “microbiomania”. With the help of metagenomics\, scientists today record exactly how many of the different species are found in biosamples.\nDuring the workshop “Biobanking in Microbiome Research” held by the German Biobank Node (GBN)\, medical researchers and biobank representatives will talk about current findings and trends from science as well as biobanking challenges in this context.\nThe aim of the workshop is to strengthen the exchange between research and biobanking and thus create optimal conditions for meaningful research results.\nWe look forward to welcoming you in Hanover. \nSincerely yours\,\nthe Programme Committee\nDr. Gabriele Anton\, Prof. Dr. Thomas Illig\,\nProf. Dr. Wolfgang Lieb and Dr. Cornelia Specht \n  \nNote: Participation is free of charge (number of participants limited to 80 persons).
