SUMMARY:European Biobank Week Roadshow - Paediatric Biobanking and Minor Engagement - Rome\, Italy
DESCRIPTION:Paediatric Biobanking and Minor Engagement – an interactive workshop\nThe second stop of our EBW22 Roadshow will be in Rome (Italy)\, 13-14 October. \nESBB and BBMRI-ERIC organise this #EBW22 Roadshow stop in partnership with the BBMRI ERIC Stakeholder Forum Patient Pillar\, BBMRI.it\, the Research Translational (IRCCS) Paediatric Bambino Gesù Hospital\, and the paediatric network IDEA. \nPaediatric (research) biobanking is a European priority asking for a scientific and Ethical-Legal-Societal-ELS shift within a Responsible Research & Innovation – RRI framework. Accordingly\, our critical starting point will be an overall view of European commitment to paediatric research and healthcare and an in-depth exchange on good practices and priorities of various actors to raise awareness\, facilitate assent and consenting processes\, and improve engagement. Promoting practical solutions\, we will address challenges of biobanking with children (earlier\, over time\, and following up)\, such as: \n\nHow empowering new generations makes better research and a better research experience?\nWhich tools to use to inform and increase the minor’s understanding?\nBy whom is the child’s capacity (to understand\, to assent) assessed?\nHow to engage minors and their parents (guardians) over time and recognize them as active research participants?\n\n\nBooking and further information\nSee the programme and register via the ESBB website today\, seats are limited! \nAs a practical recommendation: October is the high tourist season in Rome; book in advance – the sooner the better. \nYou will find the information notice specific to the data processing for the organization of the EBW Roadshow here. \nPlease also find our privacy statements here: ESBB\, BBMRI-ERIC. For more information on the Eventbrite Privacy Statement click here. \n\nYou will find the information notice specific to the data processing for the organization of the EBW Roadshow here.

SUMMARY:Biobanking in Microbiome Research
DESCRIPTION:Dear Ladies and Gentlemen\,\nDear colleagues\, \nBillions of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses colonise the body and influence human health. The so-called microbiome is not only found in the intestine\, microorganisms are also found in the mouth\, in the lungs or on the skin. Comparing the number of human body cells with the number of microbes\, the small organisms are clearly in the majority.\nIn recent years\, the microbiome has increasingly become the focus of research\, sometimes even referred to as “microbiomania”. With the help of metagenomics\, scientists today record exactly how many of the different species are found in biosamples.\nDuring the workshop “Biobanking in Microbiome Research” held by the German Biobank Node (GBN)\, medical researchers and biobank representatives will talk about current findings and trends from science as well as biobanking challenges in this context.\nThe aim of the workshop is to strengthen the exchange between research and biobanking and thus create optimal conditions for meaningful research results.\nWe look forward to welcoming you in Hanover. \nSincerely yours\,\nthe Programme Committee\nDr. Gabriele Anton\, Prof. Dr. Thomas Illig\,\nProf. Dr. Wolfgang Lieb and Dr. Cornelia Specht \n  \nNote: Participation is free of charge (number of participants limited to 80 persons). Please register for the workshop by 1 September 2022 at the latest: https://bit.ly/2I2R9tM

SUMMARY:EBRAINS Workshop: The Future of Medical Data Sharing in Clinical Neurosciences
DESCRIPTION:The HBP and EBRAINS together with the EAN invite the entire scientific community to join the forthcoming workshop on the Future of Medical Data Sharing in Clinical Neurosciences. This event aims at exposing and openly discussing all issues and challenges associated with data sharing in Europe\, from ethics to data safety and privacy\, including those specific to data federation\, such as the development and validation of federated algorithms. We propose a platform to disclose the preliminary results of these use-cases\, four brainstorming sessions involving EAN Scientific Panels\, demonstrations and a hands-on session\, which will highlight important aspects and issues of medical data sharing and offer participants the possibility to understand how to use the MIP for their own applications.\nMore information here. \nRegistration deadline: 25 November 2021\nRegistration is free but mandatory.
