The Code of Conduct for Health research is an initiative gathering many experts from different European organizations active in the field of health research and aiming at ‘translating’ into practice the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions and simplifying their implementation for the health research area.
Since the entering into force of the GDPR, many stakeholders from academia and industry concerned with human research data and patient advocacy groups started their exchanges for finding a common interpretation of GDPR rules, but only in 2021 the initiative started to be driven by BBMRI-ERIC.
BBMRI-ERIC together with several experts representing stakeholders is drafting the code and consulting with experts, and foresees to open a consultation process and submit the code to the European Data Protection Board (EBPB), for giving it a European wide relevance and a transnational value.
