Survey: Characterising Researchers who use human samples

The BBMRI-ERIC CS IT are launching a brand new user survey! One of BBMRI-ERIC’s main users are the researchers who use human samples. But what is it they look for in a Biobank? And how can we help?

To help us develop our services we are running a survey to help characterise Researchers who use human samples. The survey will help inform the development of some of the CS IT services. We hope to find out more about:

• Where researchers go for samples and why?
• What would encourage researchers to use a new Biobank?
• Do commercial researchers face different issues to academic researchers?
• What barriers do researchers see as affecting sample access?

In 2018 BBMRI.uk ran a similar survey to find out more about researchers who use human samples in the UK. The results showed that researchers still used a mixture of routes to access samples. Researchers also looked to the relationship with biobanks to get assurance of quality and support with governance issues. We are now rolling the survey out across Europe so we can get a better idea of the issues which affect different countries as well as looking at different research interests and career stages.

If you are a Biomedical researcher based in Europe please take our survey:
• Read the Participant information sheet
• Take the survey

The results of the survey will be published when the study is complete. Please sign up to the BBMRI-ERIC newsletter for updates.

Terms and Conditions

We are inviting Biomedical researchers based in Europe to complete a survey on human sample use in research. The survey is for any researchers in academic or industrial Biomedical research in Europe. The survey will form part of the research project: ‘Characterising researchers who use human samples in Europe’.

This is a University College London (UCL) Staff research project. The results of the survey will inform the development of the BBMRI-ERIC common service IT, a European research infrastructure which seeks to improve human sample access for research. This study has been approved by the UCL REC ID number: 12303/002

The survey will take approximately 7 minutes to complete.

For more information on the research please read the participant information sheet. If you have any questions or queries about the research please email contact@biobankinguk.org.
